Williamson Rocks

This website has been put together to facilitate information, address needs, and to assist in anyway whatsoever in the recovery efforts from the tornadoes that hit Southwest Williamson County, Tennessee on February 5, 2008. We will try to keep it updated as often as possible with information that will be helpful for those in need, as well as the volunteers and agencies involved.

We are not taking time to be fancy or cute about this site. If you have information that we need to know about, please send it to us at info@williamsonrocks.com and we will put it up on the site as soon as possible.

To volunteer, please email your name, address, and phone number to info@williamsonrocks.com.

If you are not a volunteer of a resident of the area, please do not drive through the affected area. It is dangerous and there are many Middle Tennessee Electric trucks, Williamson County Landfill vehicles, and relief vehicles traveling and working in the area. Your presence will only increase traffic and make it more difficult for us to complete our tasks.

Saturday was an awesome experience! Over 700 people came to volunteer in one way or another. Hats off to principal, Tony Donen, and all of his staff at Fairview High School for an incredible turnout of student and parent volunteers. You guys are absolutely amazing. You deserve the award of the century. You really rock!

County Mayor Rogers Anderson helped to put in motion all of the county employees who worked this weekend. Eddie Hood and his highway crews were especially helpful in picking up all of the debris, and the WCS bus folks were the transportation heroes of the day!

Thanks to all of the Williamson County employees who made the second effort to make this possible. A special thanks to County Commissioner Houston Naron for orchestrating the security team, and to Corporal Chuck Norman of the Williamson County Sheriff's Department for making it all happen. They were able to keep out all of the "looky loos".

Thanks also to Lewis Bumpus of the Solid Waste Department. We couldn't have done it without all of your crews and having the landfill open on Sunday.

Commissioner Ricky Jones worked tirelessly everywhere to make sure things happened, and ran smoothly.

And to the endless efforts of the Task Force, especially Janice and Steve Boren, thanks for an incredible effort.

Lewis Bumpus called on Sunday afternoon to say in all his years of doing disaster work, he had never seen a team come together, organize, work so well and accomplish so much.

Thanks to all of you who made this possible. It was an amazing experience.
